What is Your Why?

It is important to remember what is available when we are still. It is so easy to forget; to allow other things to take precedence, to think we do not need it -- that we have everything handled (that's my ego's favorite excuse).

When I am still, it is easy to remember why I want this. Because it is deliciously wonderful, and peaceful and I want to stay here forever and I think that I will.

But when I am busy with other things or my body aches, I think everything else is more important.

But really, is anything else more important than our own peace, than being in touch with our own essence?

Being still does not preclude being productive, rather the reverse is true, when we are still, things happen with more ease.

Why do you want to be still? Why did you sign up for this experiment? Get back in touch with your why and you will naturally resume being still. Or better yet, get still first. Do the 5 minute or the one minute meditation. Then ask yourself, why do I want more of this?

Let us know what you discover.

I love the sense of serenity, the focus, I hae when I do the one and five minute meditations. I am sending an email to myself to remind ME to do this at work...Also, I am more productive when I do this because, I suppose,
the meditation forces me to slow down, go within, focus, be still and then go on with my day. Maybe a little sign..."have you meditated yet?" just might do it!!

Ilove it the way it relaxes me

I have never seen anything like this before. I think this is fabulous. I just finished the first 5 minute meditation and it is amazing how relaxed I became. There was so much more that I was able to hear, smell, and feel by doing this. Life is so stressful and we are all so focused on the "HURRY" of life that we take for granted the little things that make up this life. We all need to "STOP" and take notice of what we have and begin to incorporate all the blessings of life into our own daily routine.
Thank You Stacey for showing me what I have been missing for a long time.

I've been a daily meditator for almost 25 years now. I love your way of encouraging people to add this to their daily routine. I normally sit for an hour each day, but will add your "stop every hour" to my day as well.

Thanks for doing this. It's a wonderful idea.

Be well -- Be in Peace,

Stacey - was sent your details by Scott Stratten. Delighted to have made the connection....
Happy to follow through. Already start my day with a 'gratitude' period. Really not sure whether to do your meditations before or after. Tend to get energised and excited after feeling completely grateful for what I have and am. Any thoughts? Enjoyed the serenity of your morning exercise. My guess is to do yours first then follow with gratitude. Till the next time....with love. Harold Davis (London, UK)

I love being still. In my stillness I now remember that I am God in the form of female called, Rosa.

I have been meditating since 2004 and it has brought balance back in my life. When things get rushed, I take deep breaths and remember, I Am that I AM!

And So It is! Amen!

I just started doing this three days ago, also connected through an email from Scott Stratten. Didn't realize how much I would enjoy total stillness and how calming it is. Although I haven't successfully done this every hour, I hope to work up to it, until it becomes a habit. Thanks!

David,

I think it makes sense to get quiet first and then do your gratitudes. Let me know how that goes for you.

This morning I found it hard to focus. I keep on thinking of what I had to do today.

I do enjoy being still and being quiet.

I had forgotten how great a guided meditation can be. Amazing to get so relaxed in such a short period of time. Now if I can only remember to do it every hour! Thank you for coming to me through Scott Stratten.

Maybe I'm not doing this right ... but the first time I did the 5-minute and 1-minute meditation, I felt dizzy and nauseated, so I stopped doing it. Not sure if I should bypass doing the back-and-forth eye movement and just go into breathing .... has anyone else experienced feeling dizzy/nausea?

I has calmed and centered me... which is such a plus for me I tend to get scattered...

I've been practicing off and on when I remember. A fair bit. I noticed that I find I may think I need to get something done, and before the thought passes by me again, it's already done.

I am calmer in my reaction time and things out of the ordinary are not a big deal. I do feel more at ease and definitely more peaceful.

So how does it get any better than that?

so so far so good.

I actually stumbled upon the Stillness Experiment a few days before a Writeshop I conducted. I tried it and found it really helpful in returning to that nameless space where I find lightnesss of spirit. The great thing is when I used the 5-minuter in starting my writeshop participants off (all 14 of them!), the day was full of wonderful surprises. I tweaked it a bit and added sweet music towards the end of the 2-minute meditation and the results were awesome. Some even cried when images of people and values they love and uphold flashed in their minds.

The results were so outstanding that I totally revised my writeshop framework and went on intuitively!

So Stacey, thanks for the peace and please add 14 more to the list of people around the world seeking the stillness.

Hi again Stacey...I think I left out a piece in my sharing...so here it is.

When I shared the experiment with my training participants, I colleague trainer of mine also pasticipated. His comments were nothing short of revealing. See, this guy is probably the toughest character I've known--numb and insensitive to feelings. But you know what, he was very vocal in his sharing afterwards. He was actually the last one to open his eyes.

He said he wanted to stay forever in the space. He also "remembered" why he has been working so hard: the biggest reason he said is his family and children which he somehow "saw" and felt in the stillness.

Namaste indeed!

My biggest challenge the 1st week is remembering to do it!!! I've done the 5 minute meditation almost every day, but I am so busy at work, I simply forget! Urgh. I'll get with the program!

Being at peace is who we are. We have just forgotten because we live life from the outside in.

Meditation, journal writing and affirmation readings are the things I do each morning. The added meditation throughout the day keep the calm and balance all around me.

I love my quiet time and it makes for an absolutely wonderful moment by moment.

Welcome to the Stillness Experiment

Welcome to all who would like more stillness, peace and joy in their life.

I started this experiment for a variety of reasons. the main reason is that I personally need more structure to remind me to be quiet. And I wanted to structure to be easy to use and not take a lot of time.

I've been a student of stillness for a long time and know its benefits. And yet somehow, I still manage to get out of the habit. I will think I haven't mastered it and don't need to practice any more. But that is only my ego fooling me.

I also started this experiment because I am curious about what would be available if many people around the world were practicing stillness at the same time and for an extended period of time, such as 30 days.

You see when you are still, you are not in resistance. And when we are not in resistance with ourselves or others, what is possible in our lives and in their lives.? And even in the lives of those who do not participate because our energy is connected to others energy.

I had many reasons not to start this experiment. The biggest of which is that I have a shoulder injury/torn rotator cuff. It is very painful at times and is interfering with my sleep. So I thought to myself, how can I possibly be quiet when I am having this much pain?

And then I awakened and remembered that being still is probably the best thing I could do for myself right now. And as I re-engaged in my stillness exercises, I found I was much better able to be with my injury and indeed the pain lessened.

I imagine you have reasons to why this might not be the best time for you to be still or participate in this experiment. I encourage you to think of those reasons, as the very reason for you to participate right now. There is never a great time to do this according to our ego.

There will never be a time; a time when we have nothing going on in our lives. Stillness does not take away from what is going on in your life. Rather, it enhances your life.

You may have a concern about whether you will be able to do this regularl y---to set aside time and to remember to be quiet. for one minute every hour. I encourage you to let go of that concern. You will do what ever you do, and it will be just perfect. Haves the intent to learn from what ever you do and don't do an experiment. I don't know that I will remember or take the time to do it every hour. Even know that if my commitment. And I will notice what comes up to get in my way both inside of me and outside of me. And it will all be very interesting.

I look forward to being on this journey with you. The more the merrier. So please invite your friends to play with us. They can sign up at www.Balancedliving.com/stillness.html.

Warmly,

Stacey
